Thank you for visiting The Seesaw Gallery, and welcome to our
site. We're the founders and owners, Cayce Callaway and Todd
Callaway--a sister and brother team. People often find that
fact surprising. We often hear variations on "I couldn't work
with my brother," or "My sister would drive me crazy." Most
people just respond with an incredulous "Really?" It actually never occurred to us that it was unusual.
We've always been game to try things together, though not always with the best results. As kids, for example, putting our names
in glitter on our Christmas stockings ended up being a mistake.
As teenagers, making homemade croutons was a bigger mistake.
And as adults, trading in our skis for snowboards was the most
painful mistake of all. Deciding in 2004 to start a company that sells "illustrations
and celebrations of childhood," however, has seemed a perfectly
natural step for us. For one reason, we both have magical memories
of our own childhoods. For another, we love the art we're selling,
and we're excited to re-introduce it to people. The Seesaw Gallery is also a natural progression of our
respective careers. Cayce's interests have always veered toward
the artistic with a background in theatre, photography, and
film production, including associate producing the Academy Award-winning
documentary, Into the Arms of Strangers. Todd's experiences
come from business with his career as a marketing and communications
manager for a major home furnishings manufacturer, giving him
an inside view of consumer trends and tastes in home design.
The true basis of The Seesaw Gallery, however, started
long before either of us were earning a living. We grew up with
our brother Bo in Ringgold, Georgia. Our parents, Jim and Beverly,
were entirely devoted to our family's ballgames, dance recitals,
tennis lessons, church trips, and countless other activities.
But Mom also found time to introduce us to at least one hobby
of her own--antiques.
As kids, we thought Saturday-morning trips to antique
malls and flea markets were torture. But somewhere along the
way, all three of us became hooked. That's where we learned
to appreciate the design, the beauty, and the imagination of
the children's illustrations that The Seesaw Gallery sells today.
And we're finding that people of all ages appreciate them, too.
So we're inviting moms, dads, grandparents, uncles, aunts,
and friends to celebrate the childhood of those they love, and
the childhood they've never quite outgrown...with artwork from
The Seesaw Gallery.
Sincerely,
Cayce Callaway Todd

P.S. Because we recognize that everyone's childhood doesn't hold the same happiness or the same opportunities of our own, we donate 5% of all proceed to children's causes. Charities currently receiving funds include The HeArt Project, an arts education program where Cayce volunteers in her home city of Los Angeles and The Dalton Whitfield County Day Care, a non-profit center near Todd's Georgia home that provides child care to low-income families and where he is on the board of directors.
